Chronic Constipation

Although estimates vary widely, up to 28% of adult Americans may suffer from constipation. The problem is more common in the elderly than in young adults, and in women than men. Periodic constipation occurs infrequently and can usually be relieved by diet and exercise. Chronic constipation is more serious and may require medical attention.
